What are scars:
Scars are the natural way of the skin to cure its lesions due to diverse trauma . Originally a scar has a reddish color and its surrounding tissues are indurated (tougher) and may be accompanied by pruritus (itching) and tenderness – these symptoms can be alleviated by application of ointments. Over time, these symptoms diminish and disappear resulting a scar supple slightly paler than the surrounding tissue. The final appearance of a scar may be assessed after about a year of injury.
Types of scars:
- keloid scars. These scars are caused by excessive growth of the new tissue, extending beyond the initial lesion and do not tend to regress spontaneously;
- hypertrophic scars are red, crisper, do not exceed the limits of the initial lesion and tend to regress spontaneously;
- under denivelation scars are due to loss of tissue;
- post-acne scars. Severe acne often leave scars more or less profound and sometimes quite difficult to treat.
How to get rid of scars, using non-invasive acne scar treatments such as:
Chemical peeling:. This cosmetic procedure is used to treat superficial scars that are not deep. A chemical solution is applied to the affected areas to obtain a smoother skin layers underneath.
Microdermabrasion acne scars :
Microdermabrasion, as cosmetic procedure, is similar with chemical peels and uses aluminum oxide crystals to get rid of top layers of skin and to reveal fresh layers beneath the skin. Microdermabrasion procedure is good for treating small and superficial scarring, because of this it may not work very well for deep acne scars.
Dermal Fillers: This procedure uses natural and synthetic fillers for plumping up the scars and are generally used for depressed acne scars. An injectable solution is injected under the surface of the skin to raise scar depressions.. Natural fillers contain collagen or fat from the patient’s own body and the effects last for 6 to 18 months.
Laser Skin Resurfacing – Which laser is best for acne scars:
Laser Skin resurfacing is a permanent solution for deep scars, using Fractional CO2 Laser Skin resurfacing. A laser beam is used to break the hard scar tissues and to stimulate the healing process by accelerating natural collagen and elastin production. Generally 4 to 6 sessions are needed to eliminate acne scars completely.
Radio Frequency Treatment (RFT):
Radio Frequency Treatment is a thermage skin treatment used to treat skin conditions including scars and it is safe for all skin types and tones, depressed acne scars becoming less noticeable. This technique requires multiple sessions to achieve desired results.
If you can’t heal unsightly scars naturally, a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon after the consultation in his clinic it will indicate which is the best treatment to get rid of scars.
