Based on the length of time the substance remains in tissue, injectable  fillers can be temporary, semipermanent, permanent.

Based on the composition of the product, dermal fillers can be based on collagen ( bovine, porcine, human) , hyaluronic acid, poly-L-lactic acid, calcium hydroxylapatite,  polymethyl methacrylate, polyacrylamide gels.

Sometimes  fillers can be mixed each other or in combination with Botox.

The injectable fillers available in the market these days used for wrinkles removal such as wrinkles on forehead, lines around mouth , eye lines , cheek , nasolabial folds and more  are:

Collagen injections:

Collagen is an injectable filler that it is used to change the look of facial lines. When collagen is injected into a line it makes the face to look fuller and the wrinkles less apparent. This cosmetic procedure is an office procedure and does not require anesthesia.  Collagen filler procedure effects last less than six months and is not a permanent procedure. If you are not allergic to this substance, collagen injections are a simple and cost effective cosmetic procedure for the enhancement of your face.

Restylane injections:

Restylane injections are injectable fillers utilized to combat aging. The procedure consist in filling in lines and wrinkles in the facial area, Restylane injections being  used to improve facial contouring , the forehead, eyebrow, nasolabial wrinkles and it is also used for lip augmentation. Restylane has a compound named hyaluronic acid. Because it is a simple cosmetic procedure, it typically lasts 10-30 minutes per session and most patients do not require general or local anesthesia. The results of a Restylane injection treatment are immediate and the duration of a Restylane injection treatment is between 5 months to 1 year. Restylane is a softer product that provides excellent volume.

Perlane:

Perlane is a hyaluronic acid filler made of sugar gels . Perlane is a soft product dermal filler that provides slight better volumizing , it tends to stay where it is injected and it resists to shaping more than Restylane, but can be shaped well when it is placed in the tissue. Perlane is a thicker material than Restylane and it normally lasts a few months longer than Restylane.

Dermatologen:

Dermatologen is a type of collagen obtained from deceased humans and it is known as Human Tissue Matrix , being fixed temporary in the human body.

Autologen:

Autologen is an dermal filler injection made of the collagen obtained from your body and it is extracted from other parts of your body, after this being injected in your face.

Juvederm:

Juvederm is used to correct facial lines and folds , to increase lip volume, to shape facial contours. It is an injectable filler that has in composition hyaluronic acid and this substance has a smoothing and plumping effect.

Radiesse:

Radiesse is used to reduce the signs of aging , especially around the nose and mouth. Radiesse is a dermal filler, an inorganic substance that provides structure to the skin and that promotes the growth of collagen. It provides fullness to the skin and fills wrinkles and folds, at the same time provides an lifted effect to the skin. Radiesse uses microspheres of calcium hydroxylapetite.

Sculptra:

Sculptra is a wrinkle filler and can be used to increase the thickness of the skin and to replace the lost collagen. This way will be corrected facial folds and deep wrinkles. Sculptra  is a synthetic material that contains poly- L lactic acid.  The results with Sculptra treatment are not immediate , it provides results that are subtle and natural  over time.

Hydroxylapatite:

Hydroxylapatite is a wrinkle filler and is used to correct deep wrinkles and facial folds. It can also be used for cheek augmentation . It is a non-toxic and biocompatible mineral found in a natural way in human teeth and bones. The results last around 12 – 18 months.

Polymethylmethacrylate or PMMA:

Polymethylmethacrylate is a permanent filler , because it is non-absorbable. It is used for buttock augmentation. Artefill is a filler composed of PMMA microspheres combined with bovine collagen. It last lifetime.

Poly – L- lactic acid :

Poly – L- lactic acid is indicated for correction of facial fat loss in people with HIV and its effects last around 2 years.

Human fat:

Human fat is the most natural of injectable fillers because it is derived from the patient’s own body and the fat is harvested by liposuction from the abdominal fat or from buttock , then it is washed and reinjected into the wrinkles and folds. The results last an average of 3 years.
