What is urology:

Urology is the surgical specialty dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of renal and urinary system diseases in male and female (kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra). Also, this branch is responsible for the male reproductive system (testes, epididymis, seminal vesicles, prostate and penis). In women cases the responsible for this system is the gynecologist. Medical approach of urological disorders (eg, urinary infections, benign prostatic ,  kidney stones) is combined with surgical correction of congenital abnormalities or cancers in genital -urinary sphere. The urologist doctor deals with the investigation of urinary incontinence, sexual dysfunction, male infertility, including disorders in children, in which we talk about pediatric urologist. Urology is closely related to other medical fields: andrology, nephrology, gynecology and oncology. Nephrology is the branch of medicine that deals with the study of kidney function and kidney diseases. It treats non-surgical renal pathology, pre and post-surgical and systemic diseases affecting kidney: diabetes, high blood pressure (hypertension), vasculitis, collagenosis. The main role of nephrology is diagnosing kidney diseases (acute renal failure and / or chronic),  their treatment (medical, dialysis) and tracking the renal transplant in patients.

After this stage, the doctor will palpate your testicles and he will determine if they are normally developed, whether or not have lumps or irregularities of their surface. You will be asked to cough to see if they move from their normal position. He will  examine the skin to see if there is a skin irritation, vegetation, and other injuries. With this occasion he will  learn you how to palpate your testicles to always know that you are healthy. Then, he will  proceed to examine the penis. He will observe the skin, the glans , will check for abnormal secretions. If he will found necessary it is possible to examine your prostate. Finally, the doctor may indicate you to do  blood tests, urine, and secretion tests.  The urology consultation is very necessary because in its  absence  genital disease can evolve, can affect your sex life and the ability to have children.
